10 Tips for Fall Lawn Care and Landscaping

As the weather cools and the leaves begin to change color, it's time to start thinking about Fall lawn care. Here are 10 tips from Blake McCarroll with Elite Lawn & Landscape LLC to help you keep your lawn and landscape looking great all season long:

1. Keep mowing until the grass stops growing. This may be as late as mid-November in some parts of the country.

2. Raise your mower blade for the last few mowings of the season. This will help your grass withstand winter stress.

3. Fertilize your lawn in late Fall to give it a boost before winter. Be sure to use a fertilizer designed for Fall use.

4. Aerate your lawn in Fall to improve drainage and reduce compaction.

5. Overseed your lawn in Fall to thicken it up and repair any thin or bare spots.

6. Apply a pre-emergent herbicide in Fall to prevent winter weeds from germinating.

7. Mulch your flower beds and garden areas with Fall leaves or other organic material to protect plants and reduce weed growth.

8. Plant Fall bulbs such as daffodils and tulips so you can enjoy their colorful blooms next Spring.

9. Prune trees and shrubs in Fall to remove dead or damaged branches and encourage new growth.

10. Prepare your lawn and landscape for Winter by doing things like removing dead annuals and putting down a fresh layer of mulch.

Following these tips will help you keep your lawn and landscape looking great all Fall long. For more information on Fall lawn care, contact Blake McCarroll with Elite Lawn & Landscape LLC at (870) 595-4675.
